Families across Halton are being invited to enjoy a summer full of free activities as Shopping City Runcorn launches an exciting programme of entertainment, workshops and interactive experiences throughout August.
The centre's summer events schedule has been designed to provide fun, accessible activities for families during the school holidays, with everything from dinosaurs and circus skills to drama workshops on offer.
One of the highlights of the programme is the Jurassic Takeover, taking place on Wednesday 19 August from 11am to 3pm. Visitors can enjoy a free day of dinosaur-themed entertainment, including an interactive show featuring Betsy the Brachiosaurus and her ranger, as well as opportunities to meet baby dinosaurs, including Sprout the Triceratops.
Children can also get involved in a dinosaur craft workshop and enjoy free face painting, transforming themselves into their favourite prehistoric creatures. The event is open to all ages, with no booking required.
Families can return to Shopping City on Tuesday 25 August for a Big Top Circus Skills Day, running from 11am to 3pm. The free event will give visitors the chance to learn and practice a variety of circus skills, including plate spinning, hula hooping, juggling, bucket stilts and diabolo tricks.
The day will also feature free face painting and a Jigfest craft workshop delivered by the Halton Lea Family Connectors team. Visitors can additionally take part in a jigsaw-themed trail around the centre, with rewards available for those who complete the challenge.
Aspiring actors and performers are also being encouraged to take part in a series of free drama workshops hosted by Altru Drama. Taking place at The Box within Shopping City, the sessions aim to help children build confidence, develop creativity and learn new performance skills in a fun and supportive environment.
The workshops are scheduled for 13 August and 18 August, running from 10.30am to 12pm. While attendance is free, places must be booked in advance through Eventbrite.
